Tournament: EDS Byron Nelson Championship
Course: TPC Four Seasons Resort, Las Colinas & Cottonwood Valley GC
Prize Fund: $6,300,000
Course Details: Par 70, 7,022 yards (Four Seasons) / Par 70, 6,847 yards (Cottonwood). This year will be the first championship held without host Byron Nelson, who died nine months ago, aged 94. The two-course tournament is renowned for the millions it raises for charity, with $6 million rasied in 2006. On the course, providing the wind doesn?t pick up, scores in the low 60s are a strong possibility.
Key Hole: Ominously named the ?Bear?, the par-4 3rd at the Four Seasons is considered the most difficult hole on the course. Measuring at 490 yards, players are faced with a strong northerly headwind, which makes reaching the green in two a tough proposition.
The Lowdown Phil Mickelson will be looking to improve on his lacklustre Masters defence, while Fijian Vijay Singh will be hoping to add to his two Tour wins already this year. Defending champion Brett Wetterich will face a tough task as he attempts to become the first player to successfully defend his crown since 1983. The British challenge will come from Englishmen Luke Donald and Brian Davis, who both enjoyed top 10 finishes in the event last year.
Contenders: Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, Luke Donald
