John Daly announced yesterday that he’d be teeing up in next week’s Race to Dubai tournament – the UBS Hong Kong Open.

This year marks the 50th edition of the tournament but it has been ten years since Daly has played in the event.

“I’m looking to play well and get my 2009 season off to a good start,” said the two-time Major winner.

“Hong Kong has always been considered a prestigious event so I hope to put in a good performance.”

Six-time Major winner Nick Faldo will also be making a rare appearance on Tour and he’ll be joined by José María Olazábal and German Bernard Langer.

Faldo has recently been out in Brazil with his Faldo Series, and will be looking to end the year on a high after Europe’s Ryder Cup disappointment.

Olazábal won the Hong Kong Open seven years ago and with Michael Campbell and Paul Lawrie in the line-up, there are 14 Majors titles spread round a star-studded field.

This week the Race is Dubai takes a break leaving some top names to battle it out on the Asian Tour at the Barclays Singapore Open
