The Finca Cortesin Golf Club has been announced as the home of the Volvo World Match Play Championship for the next three years. The world-renowned 6,800 metre, par-72 course is widely recognised as one of the best and most challenging courses in Europe and among the top five in Spain.

In recognition of the course’s quality, this September will see the Race to Dubai event played outside of the UK for the first time. A world-class field, including the likes of Tiger Woods and this year’s Masters champion Angel Cabrera, is expected to gather upon the Mediterranean coast for the autumn showcase.

Reigning champion Ernie Els will also be back to defend his title and compete for the prize funds of over €3million.

Javier Reviriego, General Manager of Finca Cortesin Golf, said of the forthcoming tournament: "We are certain the golf course will be a great challenge for the top players participating in the event. The Volvo World Match Play Championship will underline Finca Cortesin's status as one of the best golf resorts not only in Spain, but the whole of Europe."
