The Ballantine’s Championship has been cut to 54 holes as heavy fog causes havoc on Jeju Island, South Korea.

The opening day on Thursday saw less than a third of the players finishing their round, and tournament organizers have moved quickly to ensure a Sunday finish.

“After reviewing the amount of golf completed yesterday, it has become clear that the completion of 72 holes within the required time frame is not feasible,” tournament directors John Paramor and Jitti Tamprasert said in a statement.

“It’s unfortunate, but we feel that it is the best thing for the Ballantine’s Championship and all of the players who are playing in it.”

The cut at the Pinx Golf Club will be made after the second round is completed on Saturday, with the top 65 and ties going through to the final 18 holes on Sunday.
