Graeme McDowell earned himself the Payne Stewart Silver Award at the Tavistock Cup yesterday, and in so doing helped Lake Nona to a 17-13 victory over Isleworth.

The two-day event gives players the chance to cut loose and entertain an energetic crowd, but McDowell was not in the mood to give anything away as he warmed up for the US Masters next month by carding an impressive 66 and obtaining the award for having the lowest score in the final round.

"I played pretty nicely today," McDowell said. "It's an interesting format and I think it's important we won this year or else they would have tried to find someone else to play against."

Isleworth, led by Tiger Woods, had established a 6-4 advantage after the first day of fourballs, but six of Lake Nona's ten players produced rounds in the sixties on the final day including Ernie Els (69) and Justin Rose (68), which resulted in a comfortable victory.

Darren Clarke emerged as Isleworth's lowest scorer on the final day, producing a 68. Meanwhile, Woods’ comeback continued to gather momentum as he shot a solid 69.

"It's about time we won this thing again," Lake Nona captain Ernie Els stated afterwards following his side's 19½-11½ defeat last year.
