To hit the ball powerfully off the tee you need to use your weight effectively through the swing. At the top of your backswing the majority of your weight should be over your right foot - as you can see here Ian Poulter's weight is loaded on his right side. From here you can unwind powerfully into the ball, moving your weight towards the target to increase your clubhead speed. If you can find this balanced position regularly your distance stats are guaranteed to improve.
