It was a Sunday full of tension as players fought to achieve various goals at the Mallorca Classic. Grégory Bourdy dominated the final day to claim his first victory on the European Tour while Englishmen Sam Little and Richard Finch battled to earn their card for next season.

The Mallorca Classic was the final full field event on this seasons European Tour which meant players began the week with a number of agendas. As well as the ?333,330 first prize to play for there were also places available in next weeks end of season Volvo Masters and most importantly players around the 118 mark on the Order of Merit fought to retain their card for next season.

Bourdy claimed the title in style with a bogey free final round of 67 which was good enough for a two shot victory over Little. The Frenchman faced a spirited charge from the under pressure Little who also finished with a round of 67. Robert-Jan Derksen had shared the lead with Bourdy going into Sunday but a final round of 70 left him just off the pace.

Jarmo Sandelin was another man celebrating after finishing tied for 50th which moved him from 119 on the Order of Merit to 117.

There was disappointment for Lee Slattery, Ian Garbutt and Alan McLean who all slipped out of the top 118 and will be forced to attend Tour School.
