ISPS Handa Perth International: golf betting guide

The final regular-season event of the European Tour 2013 season, the ISPS Handa Perth International, gets underway this week at Lake Karrinyup Country Club in Perth.

It's the last chance for those languishing outside the top 110 in the Race to Dubai standings to retain their card for the 2014 season.

As such, the event has renewed significance, and the strength of field reflects that.

The likes of Richard Green, Paul McGinley and Soren Hansen - three players outside the top 110 - are joined by Dustin Johnson, Paul Casey, Branden Grace and a number of other high-profile names.

Lake Karrinyup Country Club is a relatively short but tight par-71 layout, so if players are finding the fairways, there are plenty of birdies to be had.

Johnson is the 8/1 favourite this week, but there are better prices on offer with Ladbrokes.

Paul Casey, at 10/1 with Ladbrokes, will fancy his chances his week. The Englishman has enjoyed a fine comeback season and that confidence should translate to a good showing at the Perth International. He also recorded a top five here last year.

Danny Willett, at 40/1 with Ladbrokes, played well for three rounds last week at the Portugal Masters, and six of his last eight rounds have been in the 60s. He boasts solid all-round statistics and will fancy his chances in a tournament with a slightly weaker field.

Fredrik Andresson Hed, at 50/1 with Ladbrokes, needs a good week to retain his playing privileges. The tall Swede finished fourth at the Italian Open and 22nd at the Portugal Masters, but he's still 20 places outside the all-important top 110. It's now of never for the Swede, and I think he'll rise to the occasion.

Chris Doak, at 66/1 with Ladbrokes, will be a man full of confidence after a strong performance at the Portugal Masters moved him to 105th in the Race to Dubai. His card isn't yet secure, and he'll know he needs to play well to guarantee full European Tour status next season.

Robert Coles, at 100/1 with Ladbrokes, has already resigned himself to a visit to Q-School, so he has nothing to lose. He played great golf for three rounds at last week's Portugal Masters and notched a top 15 in the Perth International last year. ISPS Handa Perth International advised bets: 4pts each way on Paul Casey at 10/1 with Ladbrokes 2pts each way on Danny Willett at 40/1 with Ladbrokes 2pts each way on Fredrik Andersson He'd at 50/1 with Ladbrokes 2pts each way on Chris Doak on 66/1 with Ladbrokes 2pts each way on Robert Coles at 100/1 with Ladbrokes
