Jason Day: Players Championship winning clubs

See the clubs Jason Day used to win the Players Championship

We take a look inside the bag of Jason Day to see the clubs he used to win the 2016 Players Championship

World No.1 Jason Day won the Players Champion in fine style, beating Kevin Chappell by four shots at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.

The win is Day's seventh in his last 17 starts, his third of 2016, and earned him over $1.8m. The Australian struck a number of devastating blows with his trusty TaylorMade RSI 2 2-iron, including a 308-yard tee shot on the treacherous 18th hole.

It was an especially confident performance given that he admitted earlier in the week he was not comfortable with one the clubs in his bag, his TaylorMade M2 fairway wood.

"Everyone has an uncomfortable club in their bag," Day said on the Tuesday before the event started. "There's a few 3-woods out there for me that I have to hit, and if there's one club in the bag that's uncomfortable for me at times, it's the 3-wood," he said. "That's why I might be hitting a few more 2-irons off the tee this week, just to try and get it in play."

"I usually carry my 2-iron about 250 yards off the tee and the 3-wood goes about 285 yards off the tee. So there's a big difference in the gap. I've just got to get up there and try not to think about it too much and hit the shot.”

Day smoked a number of 2-irons on Sunday off the tee, including one off the 15th that left him just a wedge to the green.

Another unusual club in Day’s bag is his putter, an all-red TaylorMade Ghost Spider prototype. Despite reverting back to the black version at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the red version got the nod this week and he used it to devastating effect.

He has the number 87 on his ball, the year he was born.
