Joint venture for Monty's new course

The new Colin Montgomerie-designed championship course at Riffa Views in Bahrain is to be built by both Scottish and Bahrainian companies, the CEO of the development project announced yesterday.

The golf course at one of Bahrain's most significant new property developments is to be constructed by a joint Scottish and Bahrainian consortium known as BGD-Nass.

At the signing ceremony (pictured) which celebrated the agreement regarding the Montgomerie-designed course at Riffa Views in the Middle Eastern kingdom, representatives of Scottish design company Braemar Golf Developments and the Bahrain based company Nass Contracting revealed their delight at being awarded the high profile contract. The consortium defeated three other tended bids to land the £7.9 million deal.

"The partnership brings a professional calibre that is essential for the quality demanded by the Riffa Views project," said Andrew Browning, CEO Riffa Golf and Residential Development.

"BGD-Nass demonstrated the essential mix of large scale construction experience and technical golfing knowledge."

The Montgomerie layout will become part of a very exclusive complex in Bahrain, as it attempts to raise its profile as a sporting and tourist venue. Also due for construction at Riffa View are 900 top-class residential homes, a country club style hotel and a Boris Becker tennis academy.
