Scottish knitwear company Peter Scott & Co has announced that European Tour star Colin Montgomerie will be endorsing its products during the forthcoming season.

The Hawick-based firm, founded in 1878, has been a leading producer of fine cashmere jumpers for many decades. “Even though many of the world’s top golfers wear our products our branding doesn’t appear so we have been one of Scotland’s best-kept secrets,” said Peter Scott managing director Nick Bannerman.

“It’s time to reveal this secret to the golfing world. Our aim is to grow our market share of the luxury cashmere sector in Europe, America and Japan. Linking up with Colin is a tremendous boost towards achieving our objective.”

Speaking at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship Montgomerie confirmed the news and revealed his delight at linking up with a Scottish company. “I am delighted to be joining the Peter Scott team,” the seven time Order of Merit winner said. “They have been the leaders in their field for many years. To be linked with a Scottish company perfectly placed to service the needs of all discerning golfers gives me a feeling of great pride.”

The company revealed that plans were being made for the launch of an exclusive Montgomerie clothing range later this year.
