Nick Dougherty, double European Tour winner, will officially launch the HSBC Wee Wonders Championships event by hosting a golf day on March 18 2009 at The Grove in Hertfordshire. The HSBC Wee Wonders qualifiers tee off on April 8 2009 in Loughton and continue throughout the country until June 6.

Doughtery will be joined by 17 youngsters, a mixture of former HSBC Wee Wonders champions and hopefuls for this year’s competition from all over the country. The day will include a coaching clinic, short game skills competition, and then nine holes of golf on The Grove’s Championship golf course.

The event is the biggest grassroots junior golf programme in the UK and Ireland. Dougherty has a keen interest in the HSBC Wee Wonders Championships and junior golf after having won the World Boys Championship in 1999 as well as the Faldo Junior Series three times in his career.
