Nick Taylor of Canada fired a final round of 66 to win the Sanderson Farms Championship at the Country Club of Jackson by two shots from Boo Weekley and Jason Bohn.

The 26-year-old came from four shots back at the start of the final round to claim his first PGA Tour title. He’s the first Canadian winner on the circuit since Stephen Ames won the Children’s Miracle Network Classic in 2009.

Taylor was playing in just his 13th PGA Tour event, but he displayed impressive composure and maturity through the final round. He raced to the turn in four-under-par and joined the leaders at the top of the board. Further birdies at the 13th, 14th and 15th holes put him clear in front. He made an excellent par save at the 16th and, despite a bogey at the home hole, he ran out as a comfortable winner.

“Going into today, I was feeling good about my game,” Taylor said. “But until it really happens, you never really expect it. It’s very surreal. I putted unbelievable today. I just wanted to hit as many greens as possible because I knew I was rolling it really well.”

John Rollins held the lead after 54 holes in Jackson, but he faded with a final round of 73. He ended in a tie for fourth with Peter Uihlein, who closed with a superb 65, and Justin Thomas, who shot 67.

Boo Weekley matched Taylor’s closing round of 66 to finish in a tie for second with Jason Bohn.

“I didn’t drive the ball as well as I wanted the first three days and kind of worked on some things yesterday and it came together today,” Weekley said.
