Quinn Insurance British Masters tees off fundraising initiatives

Visitors to this year's Quinn Insurance British Masters will be able to watch great drives and help save lives after event promoters announced The Anthony Nolan Trust as its official charity for 2008

The golf event, which welcomes top golfers from all over Europe, will take place at The Belfry, West Midlands, at the end of September.

Every year spectators are treated to a fantastic range of facilities and entertainment in the Tented Village and it is here that much of the fundraising takes place. Proceeds raised from the £1 a go putting green, longest drive competition on the golf simulator and professional coaching on the inflatable driving range will be donated to The Anthony Nolan Trust, which recruits bone marrow donors to help save the lives of people with leukemia.

In addition, an on site hairdresser will be giving the professional golfers new do's and money from the salon will benefit the Trust. Pro-Am competitors will be aiming to Hit the Fairway for Charity and all accurate drives will further

boost the coffers.

On Friday 26th September, Ladies Day will return for a second year and as well as aiding the official charity, players and spectators will be painting the town pink to raise funds for breast cancer charities closely linked to golfer Darren Clarke, who has already confirmed he will be taking part in the golfing extravaganza.

Alex Frazier spokesperson for the Anthony Nolan Trust commented; "As an independent charity, the Anthony Nolan Trust relies on the financial support of companies and we are thrilled to have been chosen as the official charity of the Quinn Insurance British Masters."

Andrew 'Chubby' Chandler, Managing Director of promoters International Sports Management agrees; "The Anthony Nolan Trust is a cause close to the hearts of many employees at Quinn Insurance and it therefore felt fitting that our event can help them. Many professional golfers including Darren take time out to help causes that mean a lot to them, and I'm pleased we will be able to help him make a difference too."
