The OKI Castellón Senior Tour Championship gets underway tomorrow in Castellón, Spain with eight players  – including two former Ryder Cup captains – in with a chance of winning the Order of Merit.

Ian Woosnam currently leads the Order of Merit by €19,380 over Glenn Ralph. Sam Torrance and Carl Mason are close behind and, should any of them falter, Peter Mitchell, Tony Johnstone, Bertus Smit and Bob Cameron could also capture the title with the €64,433 first prize up for grabs.

“It’s been a good battle in the Order of Merit this year between myself and Sam and it should be an exciting finish in Spain,” said 2006 winning Ryder Cup captain Woosnam.

The Welshman will be chased all the way and Torrance added: “I want to beat Woosie to the number one spot this year and I still have a good chance of doing that. It’s all to play for.”

With a win this week, Carl Mason would match Tommy Horton’s record of the most Senior Tour victories with 23.

The Rookie of the Year race will also be decided this week with Roger Chapman trying to hold off Gordon Brand Jr., Chris Williams, Mike Harwood, and Mike Cunning.
