Shanghai Masters golf betting guide

The Shanghai Masters gets underway on Thursday and despite the small field, there are a number of big names competing.

Due to the small field, Ladbrokes are paying out on top four finishes for each-way bets but there is some cracking value to be found.

As seems to be the norm these days, Rory McIlroy starts off as favourite. The Northern Irishman is at

4/1 with Ladbrokes. It's always hard to say 'no' to backing Rory as he has that aura about him where you know if he's on his game, it's unlikely anyone will be able to keep up with him, let alone catch him.

World number two Lee Westwood is priced at

6/1 and could be a good bet for the win, rather than each way, as he seems to enjoy playing in China. This coupled with less travel than McIlroy over the last month should see him arrive the fresher of the two.

KJ Choi and Charl Schwartzel are at

12/1. Both are good options for an each-way bet this week, with the reduced field, but like McIlroy, Schwartzel is coming to China off the back of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda, so there is certainly some acclimatising to be done for the South African, but I still think he's a good bet for the tournament.

A cluster of players are at

20/1 while Liang Wen-Chong, who took part in the China Golf Challenge with Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy, is at 50/1.

For a real outsiders punt, you can get

100/1 on both John Daly and Colin Montgomerie.
