An incredible amount of research and development has evidently gone into the design of the irons to the point that the two sets are made from different materials. The AP1 set is made from 432 stainless steel while the more compact AP2 set is constructed from 1020 mild carbon steel.
The AP1s are designed to be Titleist?s most forgiving iron to date while maintaining the looks and feel that are the trademark of the company's products.
The irons have a low, deep centre of gravity for optimum launch and forgiveness but appear far more compact than any other game improvement iron we have seen.
The AP2 irons are aimed at better players who want great feel combined with the reassurance of a shallow cavity. Like the AP1 they have upper and lower cavities to optimise weight distribution to the perimeter, while the precise forged steel body helps provide feel, forgiveness and performance.
