Trevor Fisher Jnr of South Africa produced a superb final round of 64 to win the Africa Open at the East London Golf Club by five shots from England’s Matt Ford.
Fisher Jnr finished on a four-round total of 24-under-par to claim the biggest victory of his career.
“It was a great day, I played well and everything went well,” he said. “The putter was amazing, I sank some amazing putts today. It is written in the stars.”
The 35-year-old South African faced strong opposition from England’s Matt Ford on the front nine of the final round, but Fisher Jnr pulled clear when he birdied the 9th hole and Ford bogeyed.
“On the ninth hole I made a great birdie and he made a five so that was where it turned. I knew I just had to keep my head up and keep going,” he said.
On the back nine, Fisher Jnr pulled away with birdies at the 10th, 15th, 16th and 18th holes. The South African didn’t drop a shot on the back nine all week.

Ford didn’t make any mistakes on the final back nine either. He came home in two-under-par 33 to claim second place on his own.
Eduardo De La Riva, Jorge Campillo and Morten Orum Madsen all carded final rounds of 66 to finish the week in a tie for third place.
With the win Fisher Jnr, currently a Challenge and Sunshine Tour player, has earned an exemption on the European Tour to the end of 2016.
