Boo Weekley?s maiden PGA Tour victory looked to be slipping away but he chipped in for par on the final two holes to win the Verizon Heritage by one from Ernie Els.

The tournament had been delayed till Monday due to strong winds at Harbour Town that made the back nine unplayable. Stephen Leaney was three shots ahead and looked comfortable early on in round four. Weekley then made an eagle at the 5th and a birdie at the 6th which gave him the lead and he held on for the victory.

Ernie Els, looking for his first PGA Tour victory since 2004, could only manage a round of 70 on Monday. He looked the most likely to challenge Weekley until a bogey at 17 halted his charge.

Weekley suffered heartache last month when he missed a 3-foot putt to win the Honda Classic. The Heritage win earns him $972,000 and a PGA Tour exemption through to 2008.
