The world’s best have travelled to Florida this week to take on the ferocious Blue Monster at Trump National Doral.
Since its redesign last year this course played one of the hardest all season and that will not be any different this season.
The course is a huge 7,528 yards and with trouble off the tee and around the greens it really suits the best ball-strikers.
No surprise then that even though he missed a cut last week Rory McIlroy is at the shortest odds in the market at a skinny 11/2… odds we just cannot touch.
Bubba Watson was runner up last year and is having a very good season but at 14/1 he is also just a bit too skinny for us.
The field is only 75 players and the odds are hugely wide ranging. But the course will probably bring a lot of the players to their knees.
The £10 betting challenge with our bloggers DownThe18th continues – results so far are at the bottom of this post, or to read about how we both did last week check out their blog.
WGC–Cadillac Championship golf betting tips advised bets
Dustin Johnson £2 each way at 20/1 – Is back to playing very well, with a couple of top 5 finishes already this season. Also finished top 5 here last season and is one the players whose game could suit the layout.
Patrick Reed £2 each way at 25/1 – The defending champion, I was surprised he wasn’t slightly shorter odds following a top 10 finish last season. Looks to be coming into form at the right time.
Sergio Garcia £1 each way at 33/1 – The Spaniard is another who has the ball-striking ability to actually be able to conquer this course. Has had two top 5 finishes this season on the PGA Tour including a tied 4th at the Northern Trust Open where he should have done better.
All odds from Paddy Power. Each way bets – ¼ odds top 5 places.
