Scot Paul Lawrie’s best performance in the WGC Matchplay Championship was reaching the quarter-final in 2000. American Scott Piercy will make his first appearance in the tournament.

Ian Poulter won the tournament in 2010, becoming the first Englishmen to do so. He will play Scot Stephen Gallacher, World number 56, who is making his first appearance.

Both men failed to make the cut in the Northern Trust Open last weekend and will hope to fair better at Dove Mountain in their tough section of the draw.
