Winter golf… as it should be

The light may be failing, the rain falling and winter greens looming large but it’s not all doom and gloom on the golf front. This week GM is highlighting the rather attractive prospect of heading to Portugal with the sticks.

Although winter golf very much has its place in every golfer?s heart, surely the arrival of the first frosts and the turning back of the clocks is all the excuse we need to plan a trip to sunnier climes.

The GM office is no different and this week our eye has been taken by Parque da Floresta Golf & Leisure Resort in Portugal?s Western Algarve. This is a place GM knows well from several instruction shoots and it?s a venue we can whole-heartedly recommend. Just a short flight from all the major UK airports, it?s a destination packed full of spectacular golf, great service and crucially, lots of sun.

Located an hour?s drive away from Faro International Airport, Parque da Floresta?s 18-hole, par 72 layout is a real golfer?s paradise, sitting next to one of Portugal?s most famed natural landmarks, the Costa Vicentina National Park. At 5,712 metres the Pepe Gancedo designed course is also no push-over.

If you ever tire of the golf, or perhaps more realistically if your wife or family insist on coming with you then the award-winning Spa Floresta, a complex of floodlit tennis courts, water sport excursions, four on-site restaurants and children?s camps, should keep them happy!
