Woods is victorious in Grand Slam
Tiger Woods wins his seventh PGA Grand Slam of Golf Title by two shots from Jim Furyk with a superb bogey free 66
Tiger Woods retained his PGA Grand Slam of Golf Title yesterday at Hawaii?s Poipu Beach. The world number one fired a bogey-free six-under 66 to end the 36-hole competition on eight under par for his seventh Grand Slam win of the nine times it has been held.
Tiger birdied at the 2nd and 3rd holes on the final day to close the gap to just one behind Jim Furyk, the overnight leader.
Woods edged in front with a birdie at the 10th, before Furyk fell two shots back after missing a six-footer for a birdie at the 15th, where Woods holed a 15-foot birdie putt.
Furyk, the 2003 Grand Slam champion, pegged back Woods? lead to just one stroke with a birdie on the 18th but Tiger responded immediately with a birdie at the same hole to confirm his two-shot triumph, taking away the $500,000 prize.
Geoff Ogilvy, the US Open Champion, started the day one shot off the lead but finished 2-over.
Mike Weir, who was granted a place in this year?s competition when Phil Mickelson opted not to compete, finished in 4th place, three shots short of 3rd place but still walked away with $200,000 in prize money.
