Zach Johnson wins Hyundai Tournament of Champions
Zach Johnson shot a final-round 66 to record a 19-under-par 72-hole total and win the Hyundai Tournament of Champions by one shot from Jordan Spieth at Kapalua's Plantation Course in Hawaii.
The American has now moved to seventh in the FedEx Cup rankings following his third victory in his last six tournaments.
Johnson moved to the top of the leaderboard after a second-round 66, but found himself two adrift of Spieth, Webb Simpson and defending champion Dustin Johnson after the conclusion of the third round.
The final round - which finished on Monday - was a closely contested affair, with at least five players in with a chance of winning on the back nine.
Spieth reached the turn with a one-shot lead, but seven consecutive pars from the turn, coupled with four Johnson birdies in five holes from the 12th, saw him three adrift with two holes to play.
The 19-year-old birdied both 17 and 18, but it wasn't enough to topple Johnson, who followed his dramatic win in a play-off over Tiger Woods at the World Challenge with a fine victory to start 2014.
"Today was a grind but I felt at ease. I was comfortable," said Johnson.
"I hit some quality shots that helped and some quality putts that helped even more."
Simpson and Kevin Streelman finished in a tie for third place on 17-under-par, with Jason Dufner carding a final-round 69 for outright fifth.
