The annual Transfrigoroute Golf Day, held at the Ingon Manor Golf Club, was won by Andrew Bate of Team Lamberet, and the event proved a massive success.

Set amongst the rolling Welcombe Hills, the 18-hole par 72 course presented a challenge to novice and serious golfers alike.

Teams from all sectors of the temperature controlled transport industry enjoyed a day of golf followed by dinner and presentation of prizes.

Best of the day went to Andrew Bate of Team Lamberet with 40 stableford points (5 handicap) to take home the Transfrigoroute trophy with Phil Norris, also of Lamberet, a close second with 37 off a 20 handicap.

The leading team came from Direct Food Express claiming the TCS&D Trophy. Paneltex, sponsors of  “nearest the pin” on the 17th failed to win their own prize, which went to Paul Mills of Team Frigoblock who shot within four inches of the hole.

Andy Larkin (Team Schmitz) won the Golf Monthly award for the best front nine taking home a Monza Spider putter, and Jon Barber (Team Paneltex) who secured a OKRA hybrid for the best back nine.

Other prize winners included Karl Davies (Team Krone) for the Longest Drive and Bill McKenna for the best Individual Gross.

“The event just goes from strength to strength,” said Preston Allen, organiser of the day.

The event will take place again on June 9, 2010.
