Open 2007 - In association with RBS

Hole by Hole Guide - 2nd

carnoustie 2nd

Thursday 5th July 2007

Name: Gulley
Par: 4
Championship Tee: 463 yards
Medal Tee: 435 yards

Colin Says: One of the best holes at Carnoustie. The bunker in the middle isn't really in play from the tee but those left and right are. They'll blast a driver down to get as close to the green as possible. If the wind is hard against this is a very tough hole. The approach is testing as there can be as much as four clubs difference from front to back of the green.

Fergus Says: Moving gently from left to right, this is one of the few holes at Carnoustie where you play between sand hills. When the pin is at the back it's very difficult to force the ball all the way up to it. Think of a club and take one more.

Paul Says: I expect to be hitting driver here, though it needs to be fairly accurate to just miss the bunkers on the right. Getting the exact yardage to the pin is key for the approach to
this long green.
