The all-grey look on the apparel we were supplied looks surprisingly good to the eye and is a little different to that of other brands. The waterproofs were stylish and modern in appearance although the adidas logo on the arm of the jacket was probably larger than it needed to be.
I am 6 foot 3inches tall and 18 stone so was therefore surprised to discover that the extra large size I normally wear came out a little baggy on me. From this I would recommend going for a size smaller that you would normally or at least trying the garments on before committing to a size.
All the adidas apparel was very comfortable to wear in a variety of weather conditions, keeping the wind out and the warmth in to desirable amounts. The soft material of the mid layer got a big thumbs up, as did the stretchy nature of the polo shirt, allowing me to swing freely without losing much speed despite wearing multiple layers.
The conditions that the waterproofs faced at Old Head were very tough and I wasn’t surprised to see that some water got to the mid-layer underneath. It’s unlikely that the water came in through the material itself, more likely down the neck or under the cuffs, but we were playing in brutal conditions. In terms of protection from the wind and playability, all the garments were excellent.
I particularly like the look of the apparel and especially the grey trousers that are brighter than some golf trousers on the market and different to the ordinary chino. The outerwear worked well in the wind.
