The Golf Monthly team brings you its GolfBuddy WT4 review, revealing all you need to know about this golf GPS watch

Product Overview

Overall rating:

GolfBuddy WT4

Pros:

  • The slimmest watch featured and a look that would not look out of place off the golf course. As you would hope, the unit is very easy to use straight after charging, locating the course with ease. One of the quickest watches tested for updating yardages, which means distances are available almost immediately when you arrive at the tee or your ball. Shot measurement, scorecard and distance will please those looking for extras.

Cons:

  • In order to be the perfect on and off-course watch the Golf Buddy logo could be more subtle. Adding score information is a little fiddly and time consuming. The slim design means the screen is a little smaller than some.

Key technology: GolfBuddy WT4 review

A slim watch design with an option to view the time in digital or analogue modes when not playing. The GPS offers yardages to greens as well as to hazards on each hole. Dynamic Green View means that the front, middle and back of the green changes to the angle you are approaching from. The pin position can be moved for more accuracy. The watch is loaded with over 37,000 courses worldwide.

Verdict

It’s refreshing to see a top GPS brand offering a different watch style for those who don’t like the chunky sports look. This design looks great and is comfortable on the wrist. As we have come to expect from GolfBuddy, it is a reliable performer that is easy to set up and get going straight out of the box. Yardages matched up closely with tee boxes and laser comparison. As with other watches, when it comes to detailed information on hazards, it is trickier to work out what the yardages refer to compared to a full-screen device with maps.
