The Golf Monthly test team review Yonex's new Z-Force irons

Product Overview

Overall rating:

Yonex Z-Force irons

Pros:

  • When launching the Z-Force range, the team at Yonex provided a stat stating that 75% of golfers don’t break 90. With this in mind, they looked into producing a range that made it easy to get the ball up quickly, while offering plenty of forgiveness. While I am not the target audience, I couldn’t help but be impressed by the forgiveness on offer through the range. There is lots of technology on offer at a very good price. Even initial warm-up shots with the longer irons flew high and straight time after time.

Cons:

  • The levels of forgiveness on offer have resulted in a head that sits towards the larger end of the size spectrum. The more expensive models in the Yonex range provide greater feedback at impact and have more of a wow factor.

Yonex Z-Force irons review

Key technology: The entire Z-Force range is designed with golfers who are struggling with their games very much in mind. The irons feature an undercut cavity for forgiveness and a deeper centre of gravity. This means that the lofts can be strengthened for added distance while the heads remain easier to hit. The graphite shaft is specifically designed to help get the ball up quickly.

Will suit: Anyone struggling with their current irons and looking for added forgiveness and distance.

Verdict

Regardless of your handicap, if you are looking for a bit of help with the accuracy and distance of your iron shots, you will find plenty to impress here. The graphite-shaft offering delivered a particularly high and long flight and very consistent results.
