The Golf Monthly test team reviews Adidas Adizero One shoes

Product Overview

Overall rating:

Pros:

  • This is a very lightweight shoe that will particularly appeal to those who play lots of golf. The one-piece upper helps to ensure that the design is fully waterproof. The original adizero design received criticism for damaging soft greens, but this version is much improved in that respect, leaving similar markings to other spiked designs when playing on very soft greens. This improvement is achieved without sacrificing the impressive grip on offer.

Cons:

  • The sporty look could be a little too extreme for some tastes. It would be interesting to test the breathability in the summer, as feet were quite warm even in spring conditions.

Adidas Adizero One Shoes Key Technology:

The new adizero One weighs 272 grams, which is 10 per cent lighter than the original adizero. An ultra-light one-piece upper is made up of five different layers, while a lighter and thinner seven-cleat performance outsole also helps to reduce weight and increase the stability on offer.
An external TPU layer should further improve the stability of the shoe when swinging.

Will suit… Those in the market for a lightweight option that offers plenty of grip.

Verdict

As is usually the case with adidas golf shoes, my normal shoe size was too small. Most golfers will need to size up to obtain the correct fit. The one-piece upper is very light and easy to clean, although not as breathable as others on the market. The styling will undoubtedly divide opinion – it’s not a look I would normally opt for, but it’s a design that will appeal to others.
