GM verdict: We’ve always championed the performance and stability of FootJoy shoes, but were intrigued when the M:PROJECT was introduced. The sensation when trying these on for the first time requires a little adjusting to, as you have more room than normal to move your toes. What the design also does is allow you to turn more easily on to your front side when swinging through. As FootJoy admits, these won’t be for everyone, but there are plenty who will benefit from them. But... those who like a classic FJ look are unlikely to be tempted by this unusual design. PGA pro verdict: The lightweight construction really benefited my golf, particularly late in the round when tiredness begins to set in. The M:PROJECT shoes also offer excellent comfort – feeling very supple, with a generous fit, straight from the box. With this design and quality, I can imagine these shoes appealing to a wide cross section of players.
