Skechers Go Golf Pro 2 Shoe Review
Golfers who prioritise comfort straight out of the box as well as performance at an affordable price.
Skechers’ most advanced golf shoes to date feature 5Gen technology found in the lightweight and responsive shock-absorbing midsole, a H2GO Shield that’s seam sealed for waterproof protection, a heel lock for added stability and a full contact outsole for stability and performance in all conditions.
How we tested
We laced up these shoes over a number of months on different courses, testing them in both dry and warm conditions as well and wet and cold weather on varying severities of slopes and lies.
The shoes have a subtle, modern look – some dashes of colour and perforated detailing give them a premium feel and can be worn with multiple outfits.
The nine cleats combined with the diamond-designed outsole nubs that vary in size meant the grip in all conditions and lies was up to the task.
Arguably one of the more underrated golf shoe brands, the Go Golf Pro 2 impresses out of the box. The upper has a slightly thicker feel to it, which means the fit is nice and snug while the narrower heel section locks the foot in place. The toe section is perhaps squarer than most other shoes but it doesn’t detract from the fit or comfort.
As well as the ample padding underfoot, the shoes do the job in terms of offering golf-specific performance, like providing a stable, solid base from which to swing and coping with the different slopes and surfaces golfers encounter with aplomb.
On hot days, your feet do become quite moist – the level of breathability doesn’t quite match the comfort or shelf appeal – but they’re still an pleasant pair of shoes to walk and play in.
The comfort right from the first wear is excellent. You’ll experience a soft feel all round – even the laces have a unique, silk-like texture to them that just adds to the premium feel. The upper material has a very smooth texture that you’ll enjoy too. The styling will appeal to nearly all ages and tastes and although they’re perhaps not the most breathable shoes on the market, the levels of grip, comfort and stability were very high indeed.
