The American won the US Junior Amateur in 2009 and 2011. This made him just the second golfer to win the event twice, the other player being Tiger Woods.

In 2013, he went onto become the youngest player in 82 years to win a PGA Tour event.

In his Masters debut in 2014, he finished runner-up. He was tied for the lead after round three and held a two-shot lead over his competitors until Bubba Watson passed him.

In 2014-15, the young American recorded 15 top 10 finishes on tour.

Spieth became the second youngest Masters winner and the youngest US Open Champion in 2015 in more than 90 years.

He also became the first male since Gene Sarazen in 1922 to claim multiple majors before his 22nd birthday.

Spieth’s first major win came at the Masters in 2015 where he finished four shots clear of the chasers. An overall score of 18-under-par fended off competition from Phil Mickleson and Justin Rose.

In the US Open, he beat Dustin Johnson by one stroke. A missed putt from Johnson on the last at Chambers Bay ensured the major did not go to a play-off. With the victory he became only the sixth golfer to win both the Masters and the US Open in the same year.

Spieth will be desperate to continue his fine form into the 2016 season and will want to maintain his brilliant record in the big events.
