A guide to the twelfth hole on the Old Course at Royal Troon ahead of the 145th Open Championship

Royal Troon Golf Club Hole by Hole: Hole 12

Hole 12 – Par 4 – 430 yards

The 12th is named ‘The Fox’ because of the fox-inhabited woods that once stood by this hole.

The dogleg-right has no fairway bunkers but you do need to avoid the gorse down the right.

At 430-yards into wind it plays long into a difficult green to find.

A bunker guards the putting surface to the right and there is a steep run-off area to the left of this tricky two-tiered green.
