A guide to the fourth hole on the Old Course at Royal Troon ahead of the 145th Open Championship

Royal Troon Golf Club Hole by Hole: Hole 4

Hole 4 – Par 5 – 555 yards

The hole is named ‘Dunure’ after the coastal village south of Ayr.

It’s a dogleg right with a bunker down the right at 250 which most should be able to carry.

Then two further bunkers left at 294 and 320 must be avoided.

Some will go for it in two, some won’t but either way a birdie is difficult to make with a heavily-guarded two-tier green.
