Direct Golf have crafted their own Iron Throne from old golf clubs as a homage to TV's Game of Thrones and the 2015 Masters

With two of 2015's biggest events just around the corner, Direct Golf have come up with the ingenious idea to toast both with their own Iron Throne.

In a cleverly crafted reference to the new season of the popular fantasy television show Game of Thrones, the golf retailers have linked up with designers Dead Beats Create to construct a throne from old golf clubs.

The eagerly-anticipated season 5 premiere of the American show will be broadcast on Sunday 12th April, just in time for the conclusion at Augusta. With the separare events inked in to the calendars of die-hard fans, Direct Golf's creation seems the perfect way to fuse together two seemingly unrelated milestones.

On their website, Direct Golf even provide a step-by-step guide to creating your own throne with any 6 or 7-irons that just don't cut it around the course anymore.

The process is rather more complicated than you might imagine, with each club cut down to the appropriate size in order to bare as much resemblance as possible to the iconic throne.

After the 320 clubs have been manipulated into the correct size, they are individually strapped to the chair to complete the imposing 6ft high throne.

For the players who missed out on a Masters place at the weekend, such as Marc Warren and Harris English, they'll now have a new, if unconventional, way of getting rid of the clubs that failed to take them to Augusta.

It might not be the most comfortable seat from which to view Bubba ripping one off the tee or Rory making birdie, but you'll at least have a club at hand to replicate the champions' tournament-clinching swing.
