With victory at the South African Airways Open in 2006 (the event counted towards the 2007 European Tour season) Ernie Els maintained his remarkable record of winning a tournament in every calendar year since 1991.

The South African has set out to improve his world ranking this year and has made it clear one of his main ambitions is to steal the world number one spot from Tiger Woods.

He?ll have to remain driven and dedicated to do so, and he?ll also need to pick up on his last two US Masters showings.

In 2006 Els tied for 27th and only managed a 47th place finish at the '05 tournament. Instead he will focus on the performances of 2004 and '03 where he managed 2nd and 6th place respectively. Els certainly has the big game mentality and the physique to cope with the demanding Augusta track.
