University of Wales Golf Scholarship student invited to take part in the Selsdon Park Masters

Indra (18) from Lucknow, India was the first scholarship student to be enrolled at the Newport Golf School, part of the University of Wales, where he is studying for a degree in forensic computing while developing his considerable golfing skills - he currently plays off plus two and has a won many golf competitions in his native India.

As a scholar at Newport School of Golf, Indra has received tuition from some of the best coaches in the world as well as instruction from leaders in the fields of golf science and physiotherapy. He has had access to the world class facilities at Ryder Cup 2010 host The Celtic Manor Resort and top golf coaches Stewart Corstorphine and Mark Bull from Selsdon Park have been working closely with Indra to develop his golfing prowess.

“Indra was a natural choice for us to invite to take part in the inaugural Selsdon Park Masters 2008” said Chris Baron, Director of Golf for Selsdon Park Hotel and Golf Club. “Our coaches have been working with him for several months and he is an extremely talented golfer who is destined to go far. We wanted to give him an opportunity to compete with some of the top players in what promises to be an exciting tournament.”

Indra has also benefitted from the revolutionary 3D bio dynamics system ‘Total Golf Analysis’ (TGA) which is based at Selsdon Park and is run by Mark and Stewart with input from one of the world’s leading golf bio mechanists, Dr Robert Neal. Giving a three-dimensional golf swing analysis with audio biofeedback, the unique system gives a complete and accurate evaluation of a golf swing to the nearest millimetre and enables coaches to work on improving technique, developing physical aspects such as strength and power and reducing the chance of injury.

“TGA accurately assesses what is happening in your game and can help players to fully understand and remedy swing shots.” continues Chris Baron. “Mark and Stewart have been working with Indra to really optimise his game and all are very excited about his participation in the inaugural Selsdon Park Masters.”
