Hannah Lovelock plays in record-breaking US tournament

Surrey’s Hannah Lovelock has played her part in a golfing milestone as a competitor in the lowest-scoring tournament in the history of women's college golf in the United States.

The event was the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Boulder Creek Golf Club, Boulder City. And the statistics are remarkable.

Pepperdine University in California set an all-time record of 41-under in winning the team competition. The top 10 teams all had sub-par totals for the 54-hole event.

The individual winner was 17 under par on 199 and became the first player ever to break 200 in a 54-hole tournament on the US women's college circuit. The top 29 individuals all finished under par.

Hannah, who plays at Hindhead and is a first year student at Missouri University, was also on good form. She was just four over par for the 54-holes and that would usually earn her a high finish. But on this occasion she had to be satisfied with 51st place in a good-class field of 92 players.

Hannah, 18, is a former Surrey girls’ champion and was a EWGA squad player before starting her university career.
