Sussex College wins Inter Collegiate Tour

Winners: Sussex College of Golf
A team representing the Sussex College of Golf romped home to a 12 shot victory at the Intercollegiate Tour finals held at Stonebridge Golf Club on May 6.
The final of the championship was the culmination of regional qualifying competitions involving 26 colleges across the UK. Played over 27 holes with the best six of eight scores counting the Sussex College team won the Gross competition with an overall result of 656 strokes, with the runners up coming in with 668. The team were also runners up in the Net competition with a result of 657 to the winner’s 652.
The Sussex College of Golf, based at Lindfield Golf Club near Haywards Heath educates boys and girls aged between 16-19 years currently playing off a handicap of five or lower, providing students with the best technical and physiological training, priming them for a career at the top level.
European Tour Coach Denis Pugh, the man credited with being behind Colin Montgomerie's monumental success, teamed up TV lifestyle coach Pete Cohen and Paul Lyons, former tour player and Southern Region PGA Captain 2005, to launch the Sussex College of Golf as a new golfing centre of excellence with the aim of helping produce the Open champions and Ryder Cup players of tomorrow.
Of the win in the Intercollegiate Tour Denis Pugh commented: “I am particularly pleased with this success as I see it as a measure of the improvement in these young players golfing ability since enrolling at the college.”
