St Josephs junior golf team win The Shire Trophy

St Josephs won The Shire Trophy on June 29, 2009, as 38 schools from all over the UK and one South African school competed in the third running on the Seve Ballesteros course.

Jack Cardy took the first gross with a 71 to win the trophy, a Galvin Green waterproof and a free lesson at the Butch Harmon School of Golf in Las Vegas.

Cameron Shaw from Repton won the under 15 gross with a 73 winning a Galvin Green windproof top. In the girls competition Zoe Fitz-Costa claimed the gross with a 75.

Trophies and prizes were awarded to over 20 players from a field of 120, including Patrick Critchley from Michaelhouse school in South Africa who won second gross in the under 15’s. Sherborne school won the nett team competition.

Meanwhile, the following day saw Castle Court run away with the inaugural Quin Trophy, also held at The Shire London Golf Course where over 20 schools took part in the Junior Open.

Best individual gross went to James Dodds who shot a gross 75 playing off a 10 handicap. James took the trophy along with a Galvin Green top and a free lesson at the Butch Harmon School of Golf.

The under 12’s gross went to Maxwell Martin with a 76, and the girls competition was won by Lizzie Prior from Notre Dame. The under 10’s was won by Josh Devanport from King Henry VIII with a gross 84 nett 68.

The competition is now set to be an annual competition played on the day after the Shire Trophy. For more results visit ISGA.org.uk.
