A group of juniors from Royal Eastbourne Golf Club completed a sponsored golf day raising money for the Children With Cancer Fund, based locally in Polegate.

The day was the brainchild of Junior Captain, Katie Ager, and involved each junior playing as many holes in the day as possible. The first round started at 5.00am with Katie leading the way, accompanied by invited guest Club Assistant Pro Laurence Collier.

The first round was completed in a little over two hours. However, this was not the quickest round of the day as the third round of Katie and another invited guest, Club Chairman Mike Williams was achieved in one hour fifty minutes.

The other participants comprised Hallam Ager, Jack Britland-Whiting, Jack Harris, Richard Hine, Hamish Houston, Alex Piper, Mark Taylor and Nick Ward who shared with Katie the honour of completing every hole of all five rounds.

In total, the group amassed 1440 stableford points. The fifth round finished at dusk, and the total amount raised was £2,570, far exceeding the original target.

Presenting a cheque to Chris Downton, one of the charity’s founders, Katie expressed her thanks to everyone who helped with day, including those who had sponsored the players, donated prizes for the raffle or simply made a donation.
