ISGA Schools Cup

Wellington College's team with the trophy at The Shire London

Wellington College have retained the ISGA Schools Cup after finishing 13 shots ahead of Worksop.

The event was held at The Shire London, the only Seve Ballesteros designed course in the UK, and it proved to be a stern test of the youngsters' golf.

The wind played a major role in the scoring on the day, while water hazards at 14 different holes made for some classic risk and reward golf throughout the field.

24 school teams took part from as far as Jersey to the west country with each team fielding three pupils and one teacher.

Other winners at the event were New Hall who took home the nett trophy prize for the first time, narrowly beating St Catherine's girls school by one stroke.

The lowest gross score of the day was registered by Cameron Farmer of Wellington, who posted a 73, while Sophie Godley of Worksop won the girls prize with an impressive 74.

As well as taking home the trophy, Wellington have also won a golf simulator for their school.
