Amateur golfers will soon have to chance to follow in the footsteps of some of the world's leading golfers when the Kingsbarns Classic gets underway in 2011.

A couple of places still remain for the event which takes place on Friday October 28, where competitors will play in teams of two in a betterball Stableford format.

Chief executive of the Kingsbarns Golf Links, Alan Hogg, said: "We are delighted to welcome the competitors to the Kingsbarns Classic and will be delivering the course in the same championship condition as it was for the pros and celebrities in the recent Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

"This is a popular event, shortly before the end of the season, and gives golfers the chance to experience a top class championship links course in a competitive environment. We are very much looking forward to a thrilling day's golf and to finding out who will become this year's champions."

Kingsbarns recently played host to the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and consistently receives praise from professionals and celebrities who play the course.

US Open winner Graeme McDowell said: "It is one of the most beautiful courses in the world for sure. Having won the US Open at Pebble Beach this is probably something that compares to that kind of view and experience.

"It is a great course to play and it has gone from strength to strength every year. It has really grown on me. I enjoy it more and more every time I come back."

Hollywood film star, Michael Douglas, said: "I love Kingsbarns. I was fortunate to be here the first year that it opened, even then it looked like it was a 30 year old course. They are doing a nice job. Kingsbarns is like me, the older the better."

Entry for a team of two is £479. For more information please visit the Kingsbarns website.
