Deutsche Bank Championship - Preview

The Deutsche Bank Championship gets underway in Boston this afternoon, where the big story is Tiger Woods' attempt to win his fifth consecutive tournament. The world's best golfer will be hoping to beat off the challenge of several big names to continue his remarkable recent run of form.

Woods (pictured) has won two Major championships amongst the four tournaments that he has secured, but his rivals this week will attempt to take comfort in the fact that he needed a playoff to defeat Stewart Cink in last week's WGC Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone - the least impressive of his four wins in a row.

Woods will see his main rivals this week as Adam Scott and Vijay Singh, the two biggest names lining up against him due to many of the USPGA Tour's money leaders taking a week off. Singh has not been in the best of form this season but remains a dangerous opponent, while Scott has enjoyed three top ten finishes in his last five outings - including a tie for third place at the USPGA Championship at Medinah earlier in the month.

Other notable names include Woods' compatriot Lucas Glover, who narrowly missed out on selection for the US Ryder Cup team and enjoyed a top five finish at Firestone, and US Ryder Cup qualifier JJ Henry. Europe's main hopes this week would appear to be Sweden's Carl Pettersson and Germany's Alex Cejka.
