John Aldridge Charity Golf Classic proves massive success

Former Liverpool hitman John Aldridge recently held his annual John Aldrige Charity Golf Classic at the Oceânico Millennium and the new Oceânico Faldo, which proved a massive success.
While some of golf’s elite were teeing up at the Portugal Masters in mid-October, a host of sporting celebrities made Aldridge’s 36-hole charity event in order to raise money for chidren’s charities in Dublin, Liverpool and in the Algarve.
Former team-mate Jason MacAteer, ex-Chelsea striker David Speedie, FA Cup winner Rob Jones and champion jockey Kieron Fallon, all made the stableford competiton, but Paulo Pingo triumphed with a total of 80 points.
Aldridge said: “This was another magnificent couple of days; the golf was incredibly enjoyable and I’m absolutely delighted by the amount of money we’ve raised for charity once again.
“We certainly have the winning ingredients for this event and I can’t thank Oceânico enough for the support they give us in making this tournament possible.
As always, the courses were in magnificent condition and I know that everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”
The John Aldrige Charity Golf Classic has now raised a total of €160,000 since it started in 2002.
