Management change at Old Head Golf Links

Old Head Golf Links announced today that its General Manager, Mr. John Dwyer will be leaving to accept a new position as General Manager of Quinta do Lago Portugal, effective July 31, 2008.

John O’Connor, Old Head’s President stated: “I look at John’s departure with mixed emotions. He has made an outstanding contribution during his nine years at Old Head and he will be missed.

On the other hand, he will be accepting a position, with new responsibilities, in a much larger organization. We are very pleased that John has this new opportunity.”

“I am very grateful for the opportunity and learning experience I have had at Old Head. I was fortunate to be there during the time it developed into one of the world’s finest golf courses. With the new Members’ Suites successfully in operation, and the course in its best condition ever, I now feel that I can move on to new challenges”, said Dwyer.

Old Head is currently engaged in a worldwide search for Dwyer’s successor.

About Old Head Golf Links

Old Head is located on the southern tip of Ireland in County Cork. The 220-acre course juts more than 2 miles into the Atlantic Ocean and features the ruins of an ancient castle and the remains of old lighthouses. The course rises hundreds of feet above steep cliffs, surrounded by the ocean on all sides.

Old Head’s vision of creating a superior lodging experience to complement this world-class golf experience has been transformed from a dream into a reality with the addition of the new luxury Members’ Suites. Located on the ground floor of the Clubhouse the Members’ Suites are cleverly built under the magnificent terrace area that shows the Atlantic Ocean in all its glory.

Old Head has been called by many “The most spectacular golf course on earth”. The headland is an area rich in historical, archaeological and scientific interest with history traceable back to several centuries B.C. It is the only place known by historians that can be directly linked with the
Eireann Celtic tribe, from whom the country got its name.

Old Head is a “Premier International Private Members’ Club”, with limited availability of tee times for non-members.
