New national fitting centres from Acushnet

In a pro active move to cater for a growing trend within the consumer market, Acushnet has recently opened two new Titleist and Cobra National Fitting Centres in Scotland and Ireland to ensure more golfers can receive the benefits of custom fitted clubs. The two centres, at Kings Acre Golf Club in Edinburgh and the GUI Academy at Carton House in Maynooth, County Kildare, add to the established and very successful fitting centre at Brampton Park Golf Club in Huntingdon, near Cambridge. The combined demand for Titleist and Cobra fittings has increased by more than 35% in the UK and 150% in Ireland over the past five years.
Golfers can take advantage of the National Fitting Centres by making an appointment through their local PGA professional at their nearest Titleist or Cobra stockist. Upon arrival, a Fitting Technician will go through the full fitting experience and spend 90 minutes analysing the player’s game from tee to green. By using state-of-the-art Launch Monitor Technology, the Fitting Technicians will be able to tell golfers exactly which “Set Composition” is best to suit both their physical needs and swing profile.
“The introduction of the new centres underlines our commitment to custom fitting and complements our network of PGA qualified Titleist FittingWorks and Cobra ‘Fit to Speed’ partners. Given the demand we have seen for custom fitted clubs in recent years, we are confident that the new centres at Kings Acre and Carton House will be as popular and successful as the fitting centre at Brampton, whilst helping golfers of all abilities to significantly improve their game,” said Ken Graham, Titleist Sales Director.
The process begins with the driver where the analysis of the launch angle, spin rate and shot dispersion enables the Fitting Technician to prescribe the correct head, loft and shaft specifications for each individual golfer. Continuing with fairway woods and hybrids, the Fitting Technician will ensure the correct distance gaps between the driver and irons are correctly filled with clubs that provide the optimal trajectory and control for their game.
The objective with fitting irons is to combine club head design and a wide variety of shaft options to provide the ideal ball trajectory that will elevate the golfer’s game to the next level. This stage of the fitting process is complemented by a thorough wedge fitting session, when the Technicians will look at the golfer’s angle of attack and favoured shots from within 100 yards of the green.
By visiting one of the Titleist and Cobra National Fitting Centres, golfers have the choice of being fit for any of the new Titleist and Cobra products within the current portfolio and the soon to arrive new product additions.
From the Titleist range, golfers have the chance to be fitted for the new Titleist AP1 and AP2 dual cavity iron models, or the high performance ZM or ZB irons aimed at the highly skilled player. This fitting will be carried out using the revolutionary interchangeable FittingWorks Surefit System, which provides up to 420 different shaft and head combinations to ensure the perfect fit for a golfer’s needs.
If it’s Cobra that is better suited then there are a number of new products available to be fitted with, including the King Cobra Speed LD drivers and fairways, the multi-material L4V driver, the market leading King Cobra Baffler utility metals, and a choice of irons from the S9 and FP models to the Pro CB irons developed for the better player. Whatever the skill level, Cobra is now able to offer a variety of options to find the best ‘set composition’ to match a golfer’s game.
