Troon Orascom signing

Troon Golf Management and Orascom sign the deal

Golf management company, Troon, has been appointed by Orascom Hotels and Development, to manage its world-class facilities at Taba Heights and El Gouna in Egypt.

The agreement will see Troon bring its expertise to the two 18-hole courses in Egypt and enhance its continued progression as a recognised golf tourism destination.

Taba Heights is located 20 miles from Taba International Airport on the east coast of the Sinai Peninsula. The 18-hole desert layout was designed by John Sanford and has been voted the number one course in Egypt.

El Gouna is the Red Sea's premier leisure destination. The golf course here was designed by Gene Bates and Fred Couples.

Managing director of Troon EMEA, Bruce Glasco, said: "Our agreement with Orascom Hotels and Development is another significant signing for Troon's EMEA portfolio.

"They have two respected championship golf courses at El Gouna and Taba Heights which have already built a strong reputation in the golfing world."

Gerhard Niesslein, CEO of Orascom Development Holding AG, said: "We are delighted to welcome the renowned expertise of Troon. Their impressive portfolio and collective experience sets the right platform for us to take El Gouna and Taba Heights golf courses to the next level.
