Callaway Golf Company has announced the launch of the Callaway X Hot driver, X Hot fairway wood and X Hot hybrid, designed to promote huge ball speeds and increased distance.

The clubs - which have already been adopted by some of golf's longest players, including new Callaway Staff Professional Gary Woodland - are a result of extensive R&D, and utilise optimised design progression and adjustability to suit all players.

Below, Golf Monthly Senior Staff Writer Paul O'Hagan takes a closer look at the Callaway X Hot driver, X Hot fairway wood and X Hot hybrid.

Callaway X Hot driver first-look review:

The Callaway X Hot driver is faster, hotter and more lightweight than all its predecessors, and employs Speed Frame Face Technology to increase ball speed, save weight, optimise stiffness and produce more efficient energy transfer across the face for more consistent distance.

Callaway X Hot fairway woods first look review:

The Callaway X Hot fairway woods produce significantly hotter responses all over the face - thanks largely to pioneering Forged Speed Frame Face Cup technology - for increased distance and superior launch conditions.

According to Dr. Alan Hocknell, SVP, R&D, Callaway Golf: "We are seriously proud of the X Hot Fairway Wood's design and performance. We think we have set a new and extremely high bar in the fairway wood category.

"The distance gains are for real. In testing with Staff Professional Alvaro Quiros, for example, he gained nearly 18 yards against the gamer in his bag."
